Richard Vernon Meese passed away on July 21, 2018, after a short and hard battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer. He was 63. Richard was born to J.R.Meese and Gladys Timms at Fort McClelland Alabama in 1954. Richard lived on Army bases in his early childhood including Alabama, Hawaii, Japan, and San Francisco. He graduated Hamilton High School in Los Angeles in 1972 and received his AA degree from Santa Monica College and then his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from USC in 1977. Richard was a career salesperson by trade with his most recent assignment with ADT Commercial Security. Richard was a writer of novels, plays, and screenplays and acted in many productions in the local Southern California theater scene. He wrote, produced, and often appeared in many independent films. He is a USC alumnus and member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and the Trojan Knights. Richard is survived by his wife Gigi Fusco Meese, of Long Beach; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Kelly Meese, of Los Angeles; his daughter and son-in-law, Monica Meese Gunther and Dylan Gunther and grandaughter Ophelia Gunther, of Auburn, Alabama; and his father and stepmother, his stepfather and his brothers and sister and their spouses, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Richard was a strong man who did what he wanted, supported his family and was a great supporter of the arts. In lieu of flowers, Richard’s wish was everyone to be kind to each other. Love each other. His wishes were, should you feel inclined to, contribute to his favorite charity, Caterina’s Club (www.caterinasclub.org), or as he was a supporter of the arts, a donation to the performing arts group of your choice. Plans for a celebration of life are pending. Inquires can be sent to FIGHTONRICHARDMEESE@gmail.com
