Richard Douglas Young

Richard Douglas Young was born in Chandlerville, Kentucky, August 14, 1936.

After a long life of giving, Richard passed in Ontario, California, June 25, 2018.

He will be missed.

Richard spent most of his life in Chandlerville with his father, Bradley Young, mother, Ada Young (Conley),

and six brothers.

He was the "Seventh Son of the Seventh Son."

During their younger years, Richard's close-knit family worked on the family farm and apple orchard,

harvesting and selling apples.

Most days after high school, Richard worked to teach his mother to read.

He led the way by giving, and lived his life accordingly.

His younger years were instrumental in establishing a life-long work ethic, sense of entrepreneurship,

and sense of responsibility and care for others.

Later in life, Richard worked as an entrepreneur in the auto parts industry.

He built a large, loving family with his surviving spouse of 63 years, Minnie Lee Young.

Richard and Minnie met during high school, traveling by bus.

Their married life consisted of frequent trips across the mainland U.S.A.

Richard maintained an adventurous spirit throughout his 81 years.

Family memories and quality time were built around camping, fishing, natural settings, and long road trips.

As an adult, Richard's sense of spirituality grew to impact most who looked to him as a father figure.

Most were drawn to him, due to his kind, loving, funny, and selfless character.

He had a unique spirit and ability to put others' needs ahead of his own -- often giving his "last penny."

Richard will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, hardworking spirit, optimism, spirituality, and drive to give.

He has since gone to rest in peace with: his Higher Power; his great grandchildren, Aaron and Anthony; and, Billy.

Richard will be survived by: Minnie Lee Young (Wife); Teresa (Daughter); Rodney and Tony (Sons); Jamie, Jessica, Gena, Richard, Velicity, Christina, and James (Grandchildren);

and, Jonathan, Aaleiyah, Mkhaya, Alexi, Matthew, Tyler, Silas, Amanda, and Baine (Great Grandchildren).
