"Running For God"

January 21, 1947 - October 12, 2017

Horace Calvin Giddens was born on January 21, 1947 in DeKalb, Texas. On Thursday, October 12, 2017, he went home to be with the Lord in a paradise far greater than we could ever imagine here on earth.

Horace attended school in Los Angeles County and graduated from Willowbrook Junior High. He went on to attend Centennial High School where he earned a track scholarship to Arizona State University. He was a talented runner. He received medals for many track and field events. He was deeply rooted in the Lord, a devout Christian, who made sure that all glory was given to his Heavenly Father. He loved to laugh and that signature laugh was infectious, as was his smile. He was meticulous about his personal appearance, always sharp as a tack. He was a very private person but at the same time if you needed a shoulder, an ear, or anything, you could always count on him to listen and be there for you.

He is survived by his children: Tesha Giddens, Ryan Ross, Jerrie Walker Williams, Dai'jon Giddens, Be'jon Giddens, and De'jon Henry; his five grandchildren; his siblings, Larstene, Morris, Jesse, and Althea Giddens, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Leola Giddens; brothers, Jimmy Giddens and Joe Matt Williams, all who loved him dearly.
