Irene Faye Karr

Born to Lulu and Carl Waterman, Irene Faye grew up on their family farm in Nebraska as the youngest of 7 children.  Her siblings were Harold, Donald, Kenneth, Berneice, Maxine and Pauline. She met and married Dwight Karr in 1964.  They were married for 47 years before his death in 2012. They were longtime residents of the Carousel Tract in Carson, CA where Irene and Dwight raised their children Wayne, Rebecca and Carrie.

One of her career highlights was working as a librarian At Broad Ave Elementary School where she started the Polar Bear Reading Club and a reading mentor program with employees of the local refinery.

Irene’s kindness and generosity was evident in how she served in churches, how she loved family and friends and would share her time, resources and home with others. She passed away peacefully at home with her children around her. We know our Mom is in Heaven free from pain, enjoying the reunion with family in the presence of her heavenly Father.
