Listen to Obituary

Taranlicia Anderson was born on October 8th, 1969. She was the first born of Alice Faye Mitchell. Taranlicia was born and raised in Long Beach California. She was the eldest of six siblings. Taranlicia was the Matriarch and Soul of the family. She kept her siblings in line, and her family together. Taranlicia is survived by: her mother, Alice Faye Mitchell; siblings, Joe (Tonya), Page (Elroy), Stacey (Patrick), Corey, and Torey; and, nephews, Elroy Jr., Kahlyl, and Kamal. Taranlicia is an Alumni of David Starr Jordan high school of Long Beach California.

Licia always had a positive view on life, smiling even while times were rough. Taranlicia would help others in need, even while having troubles of her own -- she put their needs first.. She was an incredibly giving and selfless person.

Taranlicia loved music, and sang in choir during high school. She later became a sorority sister for Long Beach City College. After college, Taranlicia began her career in Social and Human Services. Taranlicia started working for the Women’s Shelter of Long Beach, where she helped women and children in need. She was a counselor to women and children of domestic violence. Licia was a source of positivity for her clients. Her positivity was her strength. She worked with grace, and - of course - a smile. Taranlicia loved what she did and was of service to the Women’s Shelter for 19 years.

There are many great things to say about Taranlicia. Her family and friends who know her best would likely say: not only was she wholeheartedly- kind, and a true Matriarch; but, she was an amazing cook, who also inspired smiles and full stomachs. Taranlicia was autonomous when it came to her cooking, it was her passion. When the family got together Taranlicia was the main chef. We would always ask for seconds.

Our sweet sister was beautiful inside and out, and was taken from us too soon. She will never be forgotten. Her dedication to her career, her family, and the Jehovah Witness faith, was unwavering. Taranlicia will forever be in our hearts.

Let’s Celebrate Taranlicia Anderson: Daughter, Sister, Auntie, friend and child of God.
