Othello Gipson (Thell)

Othello Gipson (Thell) was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where she graduated from David Starr Jordan High School.   She attended college at Los Angeles Trade Tech, where she majored in accounting.  

Thelll put her accounting background to good use while working for her dad's company, Gipson's Trucking, as his bookkeeper.  She later worked with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) as a Supervisor.  She stayed with the LAUSD for 26 years before she retired in 2008.  

Thell's mother, Gladys Marie Branch, and father, Essix Harris, preceded her in death.  She leaves behind five children; John Beamon III, Tracy Beamon, Michelle Gipson, Clidell Gipson Jr., and Louis Gipson; and two sisters, Cora Harris and Beverly Turner.  Two other siblings preceded her in death, Marie Simon and Essix Harris II.  Thell also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren, and a host of great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, and her best friend, Lola Mustapha.
