I knew Phil very well many years ago. His sister Karen may remember me. I have not kept in touch and was sad to hear of his passing. In reading the tributes I've seen online, it sounds like he had a very full life and was generous, kind, and adventurous. I know he leaves behind loving family and friends whose lives he touched. I remember him as a generous, thoughtful, sweet natured guy, who always had so many friends. My sincere condolences...

To Sister Karen and Family and Friends of Phil,
I sadly learned of Phil's passing this past September.
Phil and I shared an on-campus USC apartment, (if memory serves, for the better part of a school year).
My best remembrance of Phil was his perpetually smiling and being of good-nature even through moments or periods of adversity.
Having left this veil of tears far too soon, Phil will always have a place in my heart.
I sadly learned of Phil's passing this past September.
Phil and I shared an on-campus USC apartment, (if memory serves, for the better part of a school year).

I am a math teacher who frequently requested Mr. Gross to cover my classes when I was absent because I knew that he was able, and most definitely willing, to teach anything from Geometry to Calculus to my students. Mr. Gross was also very supportive and encouraging when my wife became certified as a substitute teacher. We are so sorry to hear of his passing, and pray for his family's comfort and strength.
